Democratic Party for Italians abroad

Italy can recapture a position of excellence in the global economy by fully utilizing a long-neglected resource: Italians abroad.

1. Safeguarding pensioners and workers rights
2. A circular flow of information from Italy to Italians abroad and vice versa, as well as among Italians abroad themselves on Italian culture and the experiences of our communities all over the world, by using above all Italy's public radio-TV network, also including important programs presently excluded from broadcasting outside the country.
3. Promotion of Italian language and culture, starting with a reform of present laws and regulations in this sector, a move already initiated by parliamentarians elected abroad. In this regard it is essential to reform Comites (Committees of Italians Abroad) and CGIE (General Council of Italians Abroad).
4. Enactment of a Law for the reacquisition of Italian citizenship.
5. A restructuring of the Consular network and their services, availing themselves of the professional skills of Italians abroad in the fields of language, culture and the “Made in Itay” promotion, and by enhancing the role of non-profit organizations among Italians abroad and of Patronati.
6. A framework of special concessions in the ICI (local rates) and TARSU (disposal of solid urban refusal rates) on residential properties owned in Italy by Italians living mostly abroad. Besides, full application of the Special Benefit (assegno di solidarietà) law contained in the 2008 Budget.
7. Better recognition of the standards of excellence achieved by Italians worldwide. Support for exchange programs in the way of experiences and projects - between Italian and foreign Universities, with the full involvement of Italian professionals operating abroad.
